A local gun store has a M444 FAL for $750.  It's an Imbel receiver with what looks to be an Imbel parts kit on it.  I checked Gunbroker, but there weren't any for sale to get a price check.  The top cover was replaced with some POS scope rail and crap scope.

So, is it worth it?  They won't negotiate, but the rifle was in pretty good shape.

Matched # kit.  Very good price.

The receiver is worth $400 to $450 these days.  The kit is worth $300 to $400.  These were new parts kits on new receivers.  A very good buy.

On the other hand, for reasons I can't explan, member DontShootMyDog had (has?) a M444 on the EE for many months, unable to sell.

A good buy at $750 if it's in good shape.

I had one and it was good but you will need to replace the post-ban muzzle break, if it still has one, with a proper
pre-ban flash hider.

The muzzle break on the original M444 actually increased recoil.

It should have a chrome lined barrel.

It's a good deal for $750 as others mentioned.

Just looked at gun in the EE.  There are better deals out there.  From the finish it looks well used.  Going to need a refinish and a new grip to get it back into proper shape.  That puts it at a $1000 gun.  Not so great a buy when you consider guns at that price point are easily found.
