| For the FAL. Where is it? |
|
I'm both sorry and amazed that I keep forgetting to post this here, sorry folks...
http://www.vltorstore.com/products/CASV%252dFAL%3A-FAL-Handguards.html Vltor has both the long and short versions in stock now for the price of $325.95 But wait, DSA has them also... $309.65 for the long version and $284.95 for the short one. http://www.dsarms.com/Handguards––Related-Parts/products/48/3/0 I'm just happy to learn that it fits the inch rifles as well as the metric. I can't wait till these start showing up in picture threads around the net. They're just so GD pretty. |

Quoted: So this product is already out and ready for shipping? OMG! BTW, is DSA still doing that slow ass processing? or are they back on track now? I remember they use to take 2months to ship an item... Can not wait to get my hands on one They're caught up now. Took a little less than a week for them to ship |
|
Quoted: So you already bought one from DSA? Do they send you an invoice notifying your item status or like a tracking number? No, I ordered other parts from them. They shipped within a few days of the order being placed, but I just got the box and it's missing some of the parts, so maybe they aren't so caught up ![]() FCG parts were missing, so I'd guess that parts they need to use for complete rifles are still behind, but anything else should ship quickly, unless they're out of stock. |

I really enjoyed the rail, very sturdy and strong.
But, it puts more weight on to the gun. With everything in the picture, with an empty mag, the gun is 11.7lbs, with fully loaded mag, it would be like 12.7lbs

it really really does NOT move at all what so ever.
The rail, with both front end and back tightened is extremely solid, it just won't wiggle won't move won't be loose. BTW, I just came back from the range today and when I was cleaning my FAL in the garage, I accidentally lost the rear locking lug piece, and without the rear piece, the rail is still very solid only with about 1/32 or 1/48 front and back movement. You probably won't even need a rear locking piece...it is still very very solid without the rear piece. So, my conclusion is....buy it if you have the $$ One more thing, I noticed the movement is b/c of the rear handguard lug ring thingy, the movement is not caused by the rail itself. |
|
well, I guess it might be a bit more solid than the DSA one, b/c of those front and back locking pieces, but I had never owned a DSA before, only seen it at shows.
The VLTOR just wont wiggle or show any sign of movement when the locking pieces are both locked up tight. To me, the VLTOR looks cooler than the DSA, but thats personal factor. So, I guess it really depends on your 'feeling' toward the product and the 'looks' of it. |
| Nice! Thanks for the pics. Please update this thread after you have confirmed that the Aimpoint holds zero. I used an ARMS dust cover rail on a DSA SA58 Stainless Tactical Carbine with an Aimpoint ML2 once. "Once" that is, as in one range trip confirmed that it was not stable enough to allow for zeroing the weapon. Utter garbage. |

Just wanted to know... Why buy that rail if your not putting anything on it? Are you going to? Well, it had a Magpul AFG on it earlier this week. I just removed it to see how long it would take for my FAL friends on here to comment on it!!! Just kidding. |

All it is a sling swivel stud from wal mart. It's been in the scope ring / sling swivel drawer for years. I got lucky and the threads are correct for the CASV. The sling mount is the one that DSA put on the original handguards. Thanks VLTOR for using a common thread pattern. (possibly 1/4" machine screw?) Perhaps this one would fit: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=336953 |
