I will this year now that I've scoped mine with a 2.5x weaver.  My older eyes can't always find the front sight.  Based upon your state laws, you may have to have a magazine that holds 5 or 10 rounds only.

What DSA do you have? And what ammo and groups are you getting??

I hunt everything with my FAL.  Deer, Hog and coyote are not a problem for the FAL.  I shoot 150gr SST Hornady had no problem with first hit kills.  None of my kills have been past 100yd.  My FAL is a G1 kit on a entreprise type 3, DSA scope mount,  Furniture set, and a Tasco world class 1.5-4.5.

happy hunting

I use my STG-58(FAL) for elk hunting. This last year I had it scoped with a Leupold MK4 M3 LR 3.5x10x40mm scope. It does the job but is quite heavy to carry around all day.

I do. It is kind of heavy, if i took the scope off it wouldn't be so bad, then i could use the carrying handle. I get good groups with Winchester 168gr.silvertips and remington 150 gr.sopt points. Groups can be as good as 2.5".

Yep. A FAL works good. Federal 150gr SP.

I love that pic!   Had me in stiches on the files,  Still does here.

MOMAR!!!

I too have a 2.5x weaver on my DSA.  Never really measured groups but it'll splat an orange at 100yds offhand.

Does anyone offer 5 rounders or do you just limit capacity of a standard mag with a dowel or whatever?

ETA- I see the otherwise well out-fitted Quaddafi doesn't have one- so I assume they rare.

The state that I hunt in has no rifle magazine restrictions, only shotgun capacity restrictions. DSA has 5 and 10 round magazines for $25, but I have no idea as to how they would function. I'd guess that they would work with no problems, but never have had a need for such.

I have a 5 round mag I bought from DSA several years ago.  It works just fine - just a little hard to take out of the rifle.

I shot one of our scrawny TX deer with an FAL a long long time ago.

A small buck at about 80 yds.

Worked real good even though the cheapo soft point bullet I used did not expand at all.
I found a .30 cal hole through a rib on each side. Even though bullet did not expand the contents
of chest cavity were mush. Mr. Deer had run about 20 yds and was DRT.

The FAL I used then had a 22" heavy barrel, so I guess the 150 grain bullet might have been pushing 2900 fps!

thats why i sold my bar in 308,i have an fal which would do the same job except with a 1" less barrel length....

I used my FAL to take a deer in 2006, 4x Burris was on it at the time. Took 2 shots but I dropped a small buck at 326 yards, probably a little luck involved. I've since removed the Burris and added a 2x Aimpoint which I can mount my magnifier behind for 5x total when needed.
