| Where is the best place to purchase a dozen FAL mags? |

Quoted:
Most surplus is drying up so the prices are going up. I don't get it. Where are they going? The widespread use of the FAL should mean tons of them out there. Since there were more of them floating around than the HK G3, why are the damn G3 mags everywhere for $8 and the FAL mags (when you can find them) are $20 and up? Hell, even M14 mags are cheaper and even fewer countries used them.

I'm a FAL newb but surplus is just that....surplus. I assume the mags were coming from countries decommisioning the use of the FAL, don't quote me on that though.
And like all surplus is dries up. The surplus ammo is drying up too. The FAL mags are bein used by FALs, a RRA .308 AR, and a new bullpup Keltec. So there are more guns drawing from the FAL pool. A few companies make new mags but they aren't cheap. There is a guy on FALfiles selling original lightly used Para Aluminum mags for $20 each. Not a bad deal for good mags. That seems to be the means to finding mags. I'm seeing a lot of packages going with 6 mags for $80-$100. Like I said I got lucky my gun came with 20-20 rounders and 1-10 round mag. I would live to add a dozen or so 30 round mags but Incan find those anywhere. RRA is starting a production run on polymer FAL mags. They are expensive though at $35 everywhere I can find a link. |
