I am thinking about picking up a LNIB never fired SA-58 with a 20" chrome barrel.  Is the accuracy difference significant on the SA-58 with chrome?  Is the chrome job good on these barrels?  Any other gotchas?

Thanks.

I didn't think in general dsa had chromed barrels but I know they did offer some.  I don't think you'll notice a decrease in accuracy from a chromed  to a non chromed.

All I am seeing there is chrome moly barrels.  Not the same as chrome lined, but non chrome lined barrels are generally more accurate.

I sent a message to the seller asking him what kind of barrel is on the rifle.   I'm new to the FAL world, would ya'll have any hesitation on picking up a DSA SA-58 with a chrome bore?  It is chrome, BTW, not chrome moly.

I would want to know what kind of barrel is on it.  DSAs barrels are made by Green Mountain (IIRC) and are not chrome lined.  An SA-58 should have DSAs US made barrel on it.

If it is a regular DSA barrel, these are good.  Maybe the seller is mistaken about it being chrome lined?  Or it could be a build on a DSA receiver instead of a SA-58?

Yeah, I was a little confused about the barrel.  He swears it's chrome lined, and that it's a factory DSA SA-58 with all steel receivers.

As a part of DSA Management I can tell you our barrels are NOT Green Mountain. They are TC blanks that we chamber and profile into a FAL barrel.

Thanks

Can you tell me if some of your SA-58s in 20" come with chrome barrels?  Trying to make sure this is indeed a legit build.

No we do not use chrome plated bores. We did just change to Nitride treated bores like a SIG 550 and man those barrels are very hard.

IIRC at one time there were some kind of barrel made from chf 240 blanks that were Cr lined? I could swear it was around March of 08 when I got my first STG. I think they were over runs and not usually used in the normal guns.

We made Izzy heavy barrels and G1 barrel out of those not SA58 barrels. Some G1 rifles had chromelined barrels because of this.

Thanks

Is there a way to tell if a barrel is nitrided (i.e., any markings)?
