I have 3 new DSA FAL 16" carbines and of course we wanted to take one and remove thye lower and have Bill Williams due a trigger job on it.
Much to our suprise the lower pin will not come out on all 3 new guns. We have used the proper size screw driver on mthe big slot and held the other sidw with a rag firmly. None of the three will unscrew. All three rifles are stuck together and we can not remove the lower because of the problem with the pin None of the three can be un screwed because the male and female are not working together. When you turn the big slot side the other side turns as well no matter how much pressure you apply to it. AS much as these guns cost I'm very dissipointed with DSA quality. We are going to have to send all three back to DSA to get them taken apart so that we can send the lower off. |
| I did call. They said the same thing. We actually had two of us at the same time on one gun and could not get it to unscrew. If we can bother fifl a 226 lb guy but cant get this to come loose somethings wrong. Now I haveto send all three back to get them taken apart. I love my FALS but I also have several PTR91's and they are much easier to work with and take apart. |

The screws should come out easy with a coin and finger pressure on the other side so there is something very wrong.
However shipping a gun is such a pita that it might be worth the effort to try to remove it yourself. You might consider trying to heat the screw to breakdown the loctite, if that doesn't work I'd ask DSA to ship some new screws and then get mid-evil on them if you have the tools and skill to do so. Yes DSA should fix it but sometimes it's easier to handle things yourself. YMMV yada yada. |

Put a thin rag over a flatblade screwdriver, or some tape, then wedge that screw driver against the side of the round portion. Then inscrew the slotted portion with a wide blade screwdriver.
Doing this, even if you scuff up the pivot pin, the cost for a new one would be cheaper than mailing the rifle back to DSA. |
