I know what your thinking.. but I couldn't pass it up for $400, and I trusted the previous owner of it   Ran 60 rounds through it today, and once I had the gas system setup right it ran beautifully. Front sight needed to adjusted down a bit, but otherwise it seemed to be okay. Now I just need the US parts to install a pistol grip on it... since it is inch pattern finding stocks hasn't been too easy. Think a setting of 4 on the gas regulator is okay? I was using American Eagle 150gr FMJ, and that was the setting that seemed to cycle the best(5 was short stroking a bit). Also, the mag that came with it is metric, it runs fine but it doesn't lock the bolt back. Should a metric mag work? It fits good in the receiver, just doesn't operate the bolt catch. I was impressed with the recoil and feel of the rifle.. even with the crappy buttstock on it. I think that barrel is going to have to get shortened a bit though.. not the prettiest rifle, but it'll be a good truck gun. |

Is that an Imbel Type 3 Inch cut receiver? The top cover looks metric. Does it have the cut for the folding charging handle? Cut for Inch mags? Imbel receivers are going for better then $400 these days. If its an Imbel receiver, great score. Its still a great deal. Check out GunPartsGuy or GunThings for furniture upgrades and other inch parts. One word of caution, the butt hole stock and naked barrel were a way for "Sporters" to avoid the 922r requirements for US made parts. If you start swapping out parts, you might need to swap out some foreign made parts for US made ones. You still got a good deal. PS, I grew up in Tacoma. |
Looks like my first FAL; they are good guns. If i recall correct that is the hybrid inch/metric Century receiver. I bought some Ironwood Stocks L1A1 furniture for mine, and it looked fantastic. The bolt hold open was deactivated by the brits.
