Anybody enlighten me about Flacon Arms?  Specifically, I'd like to get their para lower kit, but I'd like to hear if the parts are good and if the lower is questionable.

I have the Falcon kit and it is good.  The only complaint I have is that the stock has about an inch of wobble when it's folded.  It locks up fine when open.

If I were to do it again (and I might) I would go with the DSA kit.  It is more expensive, but it comes with everything. (the Falcon is missing the Para sight, the trigger guard, and the safety selector.)  It is also the light weight lower and saves around a pound.

HTH.

Yikes!

I guess I'd rather pay the extra bucks and have a non-flopping stock and a steel lower.

I thought the Falcon still comes with more stuff for less money than the DSA which, for $60 more doesn't come with any of the small parts.

Did you call them for a replacement?

I was going to send it back and got permission to, however, when I called DSA they didn't have any available and didn't know exactly how long it would be.  I decided to keep the Falcon kit as I am satisfied with it overall.

The wobble really isn't a major problem as it only moves about an inch when folded. From what I read on the FAL files, this is fairly common.  I don't ever expect to fire the gun without the stock open and it locks open tighter than a drum.  I just think you get more bang for your buck from the DSA kit considering you get the aluminum lower and everything is included.

I will say that the Falcon kit has a very nice trigger, something you won't get from DSA unless you pay them an extra $150.

ETA: To clairify from your post, the DSA lower is Aluminum and the Falcon is steel.  The DSA kit I am talking about is the Complete kit with 7 US parts and the scope mount/cover.

I spoke with the guy and he assured me they lock tight in both positions.  How is the finish holding up?

Man, this is the dilemma I've been having!

I have one real Imbel para folder from The Dealer Warehouse, 2 DSA folders and one Falcon. Let me give you my observations. I would like 3 sets of the same thing that work the way I expect them to. I am using the aluminum para lower from DSA for all of these.

The Imbel is by far the best in all respects except availability. Locks open and closed tightly with no flopping. Best workmanship of all. But TDW can't get any more and I never see any for sale elsewhere.

The DSA has no locking button as the Imbel and Falcon do. Workmanship is about as good as the Imbel, but both flop when folded. Every one I've seen does this. Also, DSA never has any in stock it seems. I had to wait months for both.

The Falcon is reasonably priced, and in stock. The workmanship is noticeably not as good as the Imbel and DSA. But mine locks open and closed tightly. At one time Falcon sold 'seconds' that were loose when folded. I guess Falcon expects them to lock folded solidly.

I've had problems with the stock bolt loosening in the lower on all three types. I have the DSA and Falcon stock bolts with the expander screw but haven't tried either. The DSA is finished better in workmanship than the Falcon.

So I'm not sure which way to go. The DSA's flop which I don't care for. The Imbel is unquestionably the best but there are no more to be had. The Falcon locks open and closed tightly (at least mine does) but the overall workmanship is not as good as the DSA or Imbel.

Pray for Imbel?

Well, I got it and it does have some flop to it.  About 1/4".  I'll call the guy and see if they're all like that or if I can exchange it.  He seems nice enough.

Well I spoke with the guy and he said a little flop is normal.  He said all the ones he has there flop - some up to a half inch.  So I didn't press it.  He said it won't get worse over time.  Guess I can live with a quarter inch of play.
