| Does anyone have any experience with the FALS listed on Atlantic Firearms as a new item for about $900? Are these guns any good? |
| GOOD ,BECAUSE THEY AIN'T GIVEING YOU A IMBEL RECEIVER .you get a Imbel kit with an enterprise receiver . and I still think the DSA is going to be better and a great trouble free shooter right out of the box without any tinkering. I believe the DSA receiver is the best currently made ,but WTF do I know . |
|
Entreprise quality is just fine. It just seems that these days everyone gets caught up in keeping up with the Jones. DSA is an awesome product, but they are very expensive. I bought a Imbel build on a Entreprise reciever, and it shoots great. DSA is to FALs like Colt is to the AR family. They both make good products, but they cost more. |
Go to Arizona Response Systems (ARS) website and read his latest test and eval on Enterprise receivers....he built 2 rifles, and discusses what he found and how far they have come.....dimensional inaccuracy is why the builders have shunned Enterprise in the past, NOT because of cast vs. forged. On the FAL Files he discussed at length that the only problem with Ent. receivers now is the bad rep from the past that they have to get behind them. I bought one of the 2 that Mark built on the Ent. receivers.....it is a beautiful work of art....and compares with my other several fals, both ARS and others, built on DSA and Imbel receivers. Considering that people are asking 8 & 9 hundred dollars for home builds now that have no guarentee, I think the Enterprise on Imbel kit rifles are a good deal and great first FAL to get you addicted....and according to the Ent. reps on the FAL Files, who are now regulars there, they will back up their product. just my 2 cents |
| Let us say just for the sake of argument that the Enterprise receivers are as perfect as can be and don't need any blacksmithing or tinkering at all, wouldn't you rather have a forged receiver over a cast receiver ? if you ever need to sell it wouldn't you rather have DSA on the receiver instead of Enterprise for a better resale value ? some times it's better and cheaper in the lond run to get the best you can the first time and never have to say I wish I would have or I should have . any way I'm sure a Fal built by a compitant gunsmith on an Enterprise receiver would function just fine and most of us would never be dissapointed in it's preformance. but the satisfaction of knowing you have the best curently made forged receiver is hard to put a price on . a burger will safisy you appitite a choice porterhouse steak will also satisfy your appitite and make you smile in the bargin . |
That is exactly the point the Gunblumber was making when he said the only bad thing about Enterprise is the rep they have to live down because of their past issues....this equates to "lower resale value" for us and harder for a builder like him to sell. He did the review in an effort to look at the new Ent. receivers from the standpoint of someone that doesn't build FAL's everyday.....and came away with them being equal to the big names as far as "problems or expert mods necessary" to make them go together. I'm not an Enterprise koolaid drinker at all....I have 3 Imbel and one DSA receivered FAL, and to an end user I see no difference. I'm just saying that they HAVE changed...and if you don't want to waite on a list for a DSA, I'll bet Ent. could fill a need immediately. And just for the record, I've had factory built DSA rifles that DID have problems, so none are immune....and I would not hesitate to buy another DSA rifle. About forged vs. cast.....if the rifle is BUILT properly and RUNS properly, I don't care. Both are more than ample in the strength dept. to handle the load...remember that the locking shoulder is what takes the load (impact) of high speed moving parts in the upper. The receiver merely contains these parts. I have 2 rifles with DSA lightweight lowers....Aluminum....I've run into guys that tell me they would NEVER have a lightweight lower, because the carrier "beats up the lower"....well, if the gas is adjusted properly and it has a good recoil spring, the carrier shouldn't make contact. Oh well. This is all about opinion...just like chrome lined vs. non-CL'ed, 4140 barrel steel vs. 4150, etc. Simply stated, I would not discount Ent. if I needed a receiver, OR a first FAL. This guy asked for opinions, THERE'S MINE |
ASK him whatever you want...........if he was going to "BUILD ONE FOR HIMSELF", it obviously wouldn't be for RESALE, so as long as it GOES TOGETHER trouble free, I bet it wouldn't matter, huh. As I said above, he says the big drawback is the bad reputation for past problems, therefore that hurts sales. I think he would say something VERY similar to what I have said about Ent.'s new receivers, quality wise....so give him a call, and ask him to post it here. You are obviously a DSA kool aid drinker...just look at all your post in this thread, as you're busy "correcting" people of their opinions...good for you, life is short so buy what you want.....my posts simply say DON'T DISCOUNT the new Ent. products, and I'm basing that on what Mark Graham, a builder I respect, SAYS and has WRITTEN, and MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH ALL THE PRODUCTS DISCUSSED. If all things were equal.....like I had a DSA reciever and a Ent. receiver in front of me FOR THE SAME PRICE...yes, i would choose the DSA because of positive name recognition. BUT, all things are not equal, especially price but since your panties are in a wad over this, DSA is all there is...forget anything else exists and know that everyone else's OPINION is wrong |
| fine ,if cast is good enough for you enjoy. some of us deserve the best and are smart enough to spend a few bucks more to get it at the strart . argue all you want the fact is the DSA is the current best available production receiver made . and while you may wear panties I wear fruit of the loom tighty whiteys that fit right and never get in a bunch . casting is done as a cost saveing measure on receivers . forgeing is best casting is cheaper . life is short, get the best forget the rest . I buy firearms to keep for a lifetime so I like to buy the best Quality I can without going overboard. If you or anyone else can't justify $100.00 more for a weapon there is nothing more to say because it is clear you are not willing to pay for the best quality and you are willing to give up quality for price. and that's fine with me ,you know what's good enough for you and it isn't the best . 10 pounds of oats that have been through the horse are always cheaper than 10 pounds of oats that haven't . you can't buy a forged receiver for the same price as a cast receiver. At the beginning of this post the Question was A fal from Atlantic, the buyer need to know the score I gave it to him . |

RE-read my posts.....where did I say Ent. receivers are better than DSA???????????? I simply was saying that Ent. is NOW a good alternative, and in MY OPINION not to discount them..... and gave FACTUAL info. to support this. Reading comprehension is everything....but please, keep correcting all of us in regard to OPINIONS, it obviously makes you feel better Did you call Mark yet? I know he doesn't care for this site, but maybe I'll get him to chime in so you can correct him too. Funny how in your first post you say "not to knock Enterprie, but...." And then spend all your other posts doing it And WHAT is your experience with them?? Let me guess...YOU have NO personal experience with Ent. I have ONE DSA FAL now(and have owned 2 others, ONE had big problems) AND I have 3 FALS with Imbel receivers....plus that new one on an Ent. receiver......guess what, the Ent. is an equal to the other 4. Thats my EXPERIENCE, so there And due to having huge problems with a factory built DSA rifle, I could bash them (based on experience) like you are doing to Ent. (with no experience), but i won't...because I"M RATIONAL enough to expect that they aren't all perfect. And I know they will stand behind it. Only mental midgets spend so much energy trying to correct and change other peoples OPINIONS. This is getting boring |

AZ DAVE ,Get checked for A.D.D ,I never knocked Enterprise, Opinions are like A$$ holes every one has them and they all stink ,fact's are facts a forged DSA is the best currently made Fal receiver made . and in fact I had a Fal (13 months ago)built on an Enterprise Reciever it was less than relieable and I sold it at a $150.00 loss it probably could have been fixed to work right but I refuse to own a firearm I can't trust 100%. what I said is the DSA is the best and for a few bucks more you can get the best . Dave if your bored you could take a reading class ,you can't seam to comprehend the post or the answer. |
