I looked for anything about ammo for our FALs and couldn't find anything.

I tried some monarch 308 in my FAL today, it showed a high degree of variation in ejection patterns.  I had six to ten rounds barely eject and land two feet away, the median of rounds landed six feet away. Some rounds, around twenty landed twelve to fifteen feet away.    The rounds that launched the farthest showed no over pressure signs, like a flattened primer or bulged case.  I had 4 rounds not eject, I was not the one shooting, I was watching; it was not shooter error. In between strings of monarch, I shot south African surplus, it had a much harder kick and the boom was louder. It did not hiccup once with SA ammo, or show any signs of what happened with the other ammo. I did adjust the gas regulator for the weaker impulsed ammo, and I still had three failures to eject.  Anyone else have any experiences with this ammo?, I have read that it wasn't too good.

I have shot about 100rds of it. Only had one FTE stovepipe. Other than the smell and weak loading, it worked pretty good.

the ammo I shot was the steel cased ammo, not the brass

I've shot Monarch steel case in FALs and found essentially what you did--it worked, but it's not the most consistent ammo.  I consider it fine for plinking, but that's about it.
