I had the handguards off my PAC Imbel FAL today and I noticed the markings "7.62x51 STLF3" along with the Steyr logo. Does this give any indication if my barrel is chrome lined? The serial number on the barrel matches the reciever if that matters. |

Steyr markings would indicate; A very high probability that your barrel is NOT crhome lined. The fact that the numbers on an Austrian barrel match the same as the Brazilian receiver, also tells me that the numbers have been force matched on the barrel to match the receiver. " Custom Build " at one time. I'm sure thats not the news you were looking to here, But I once stayed at a Motel 6. |
| Thanks for the replies. You guys confirmed what I suspected. I was told it was chromed when I bought it but I could not tell when inspecting the gun. I do not know if it was fraud or ignorance on the part of the seller but I eventually I plan to rebarrel anyway. |
The chamber is chrome lined, but not the bore. There is something that you should know. The Steyr made FNFAL barrels are the finest military FAL barrels ever made and are known for their exceptional accuracy. Unless that barrel has been monkeyed with, it should be a fine shooter. |
