I was wondering if someone could post pictures of the marks that the DSA scope mount makes on the reciver.

Also, I am wondering what kind of accuracy I could expect from my DSA SA58 16" with a scope and handloads.  I am wanting to take it deer hunting and I'm not really that comfortable with myself using the iron sites on that rifle.

I am also wondering what scopes you guys reccomend.  I am wanting something compact and "tacticool"  something along the lines of a Horus vision Talon, but preferably less money.

I am also wondering if the SA58 rifles are new or kit built and if they have a new barrel or not.

Thanks guys.

I NEVER remove my scope mount so I honestly don't care about any marks and have never seen them .

Expect around 2 MOA for accuracy.  You might get better you might get a lot better but most people are talking 1.5-2 MOA with good ammo.  Do not get excited about people showing you 3 shot SubMOA groups from a FAL.  Unless it has a LOT of cash dumped into it it is not going to do that over 10 rounds nor even repeatably over several 3 shot groups.  I have had mine place two shots in the same hole at 100 and then toss the next 1.5 inches away.

Do not buy cheap scopes or rings.   The FAL is brutal on scopes and many people end up buying something else after trying cheap scopes on them (like me).  With 2 MOA and the lower velocity of a 16" barrel, don't scope it expecting to shoot groups at 600yds.  Something with a top end between 4-9 is plenty.  6x is working great for me.  Expect to spend bucks here.  Mine ate a Bushnell scope and rattled loose some pretty beefy rings.

SA58's are new rifles with new barrels and parts.  STG58's are kit builds with new receivers.

My sentiments aswell.

Ware marks on the receiver are under the mount portion that over hangs the side of the receiver.

But as just mentioned, once installed, there is realy no reason to remove it, So they are never seen. Kind of like the ware marks under a sling swivel or a bi-pod on the barrel. It's just color ware off, no metal gouging.

Bolt/carrier assembly slides out the back and cleaning room is plenty for a tooth brush, fingers, rags, Compressed air is snap.

i've heard alot about the mount marks.....wonder how well they're being installed or maybe MFG. differences produce different results?

i've seen pics that looked pretty bad, but here's my DSA w/ DSA HD mount removed after 1200 rounds. not too bad IMO. barely scuffed the parkerizing.....

Cool.  Thanks guys the marks look like they are nothing to worry about.  Now I just have to decide on the optic.  How are the IOR scopes that DSA sells?

You can see the rub marks left on my receiver in this photo.  I had a DSA mount on the rifle before I installed the para kit.  The marks aren't too bad, but then this rifle has had a lot of use and the rest of the finish is pretty worn anyway.

I'm using an IOR 2-12x32 on my DSA and IMO it's perfectly suited to the rifle.  I've got enough zoom for 600 yds and more, and I don't have to remove it for up close shots.  Mine has about 1300 rds under it now.

You can usually get a better deal at SWFA.com or GreenMountainTactical.com

forgot to add--the 2-12x32 is considerably smaller than comparably powered scopes and comes with rings.  Here it is on my 16" stainless
