I was just curious.  Did anybody take their fal out and get a deer or two.  I went out with mine and didn't have any luck.

I took mine.  Got a shot off and tagged.....
a tree limb.

Deflected my shot and she had her lucky day.  I went down to the creek and tried one shot at an old log next to the dirt bank and it hit exactly where it should.  Maybe I'll get something this December.

I like my FAL in the field but I think I might look for lighter hardgaurds. With the DSA aluminumn free float it's a bit front heavy and more than a bit cold!

i have the standard green handguards on mine and they didn't seem to get too cold.  i am a newbie to fal's and all other fun black rifles so i am pretty much stock on mine.  i have a full lenght barrel on it without a flash hider or anything like that.  i did add a bec 3x9 lighted recticle scope and bipod to help steady my shooting.  i really like my fal alot.

As do I.  Thats the reason I drag that heavy bitch through the woods.  I like shooting that rifle and using it in practice.

In my (admitedly limited) experiance the bipod is a waste.  I can never find ground where the sitting height bipod would let me get into a comfortable position and I almost never find a good spot to go prone.  From sitting is my most common position.  Just practice that at the range if you can.  You'll steady up.

I usually get some interest from the other hunters about it too.  I've had very few people make anything but positive comments (except about it's weight) when they hold it.

I have passed up 4 does and a nice 6 or 8 point buck because I couldn't get a clean shot. I have murdered deer with that same F A L before though. She shoots nice tight little groups with my hand loads too.

that is one thing i do need is more range time and experience.  i was able to find a nice fallen tree ontop of a slope that i thought would be a good place to hunt from.  it was perfect for the bipod when i was standing behind it. i am kinda looking for new places to hunt since i dont know any land owners right now.   i went on conservation land for the first time and didn't have any luck.  it was nice but kinda crowded for my taste.  started to get kinda nervous when there were guys shooting about 50 yards behind us on the main trail.  probably me just being jumpy being my first time out but still. lol

I shot a 6 pointer with mine 8:00 opening morning , Nov, 18

No picts. on this one.

This year I had on my flash hider that I made and the front foregrip so it was 60% more evil than before
