I have a century/hesse FAL standard sporter configuration. Cost me $450.

I want a DSA STG Para.  Local shop has one for $1359

The century runs like a top, so it's a good gun by itself.

The question:  Sell the century to buy the DSA?  Or convert the century to a folder and get the barrel cut and threaded for a flash hider?  If so, should I get the barrel cut, or buy a new, already threaded barrel?  I figure the para kit from DSA costs about $300, and I can get the barrel done for about $100. I also don't have the tools to change barrels.

Basically, is the cost savings worth not having a DSA?

I would be somewhat concerned about the new bolt carrier and lower fitting the Hesse receiver, as I hear their tolerances are not exactly stelar...

Well, if it were me.  I'd keep your original FAL and buy the DSA para too.  I've been wanting a para FAL for awhile now too!  I know how you feel.

Have to agree.  If it is possible in your budget, buy the DSA.  Not because it is a DSA, but because "two is one and one is none".
