Took me almost an entire year from when I got the kit.  Total cost, including the build tools, came to $837.36.  Not to bad in my opinion.  It looks like hell, but after I test it out I'm going to have it completely refinished.  The action is still a bit rough, but the more I work it the smoother it gets.  What do you guys think for my first, and probably last?

It looks like it is time to send some rounds down range.

Hope to next weekend.  Have 300 rounds of .308 in the basement that has been neglected for the last 9 months.

I'm stuck on an AK addiction right now, have 4 in the basement awaiting some free time.  If there are still STG kits around after that, maybe.....

I've been following your build for some time,Congrats on a nice build...After all the ups & downs,You've overcame, you should be very proud.
Last one??? Why?...
Due to the rising costs of FAL related parts (receivers, barrels, para kits, etc.)It seems the days of low cost FAL builds are over.IMHO
AKs........Still alot of low cost kits & a fun build to shoot too.Now hurry n get started on those & keep us updated! LOL

Very nice your finish look a lot better then mine. I am going to send mine to enforcer22 for the refinish jobs. I just got to figure which parts are going to stay on which FAL's before I hve them done.

Now I got two more kits and two more Imbel receivers on is going to Ed Vandenberg for a float tube system with the new barrels being made on the FAL files. The other is going to be a Para I guess.

I guess that is a STG58 kit? Did you have the barrel cut down because it looks a little short.

Dan,

What did you end up having to do about the locking sholder? I will hopefully have my two done soon.

I ran the dremel over it real quick with a wire brush, greased it up and it pushed right in.

Good to know. I deburred my receiver so hopefully it will go in smooth.

A light coat of fine valve grinding compound will smooth that action a bit.  Especially on the guide rails, just work it a bit.
