I would like to put some sort of optic on my Imbel FAL.

My first choice would be the Trilux S.U.I.T

second would be the ELCAN.

anything else I should consider?

The Trilux, I know I was caught sleeping and didn't get one when they were plentiful.  I also understand the need for a new receiver cover/mount for the FAL (converting an inch to metric is easy I understand)
I do see a few 5.56 trilux sights.  can the basic unit be adapted to the FAL pretty easy or should I shop around till I find a 7.62 one?

Same for the ELCAN.  guess I only need a picatinny cover to mount it on the FAL?

what do you recommend?

any links for the Trilux (faq) would be appreciated  ( I tried google, but only found comments on the trilux, nothing really indepth.)

Check out the IOR Valdada M1 scope with Dragunov reticle and the .308 cam. Cactus Tactical has them for a good price. You can use Millet adjustable low rings with a DSA mount. I have two set up like this and have had no problems. One of them I dropped right on the elevation turret (by accident) and it didn't faze it! Great optics at a great price. Some people have said that there is a problem getting service. I have not had any problems so far, and can't say anything about that. The IOR's are a reasonably priced quality scope.

Sold my Trilux as I found it awkward overall. Now use a Hensoldt 4x24 with an ARMS adaptor and weaver dust cover. Good view, super strong glass, 100m ranging dial, can be cheap after selling the claw mount to a HK nut.

I really like my trilux scope even though sighting it in isn't real fun. The mounting solution isn't good. I've got a thread about how my dustcover practically sheered in half one day.

I've seen adapters that will allow the trilux to be mounted to a rail dustcover. If you don't care about 100% military authenticity, I'd go that route.

I can't speak for the ECLAN or the Hensoldt scope - I've nver used either. Both have a good reputation though.

I recently installed an Aimpoint M2 on my FAL.

It rides on an ARMS mount.

It's a lot of fun.

I zeroed it at 50 yds.

Going to try it at 200 yds next trip to range.

I'll post my observations afterwards.

Be safe,
