I've got my kit all broken down and the receiver stub removed.  Just to get it up and running, how are the parts from FAC?  They've got 6 US parts for $100.  I figure I can fine tune it after.  Any advantages to installing a DSA h/t/s?  They run $65.

What are the 6 parts?

If I remember right, hammer, trigger, sear, pistol grip, gas piston, and I think a charging handle.  I'm using an Imbel receiver and keeping the original flash hider, so I think that covers all the parts I need if I don't use a US made receiver.

You will need to replace original imported parts with 7 US parts if you have a muzzle attachment, or 6 parts with no muzzle attachment.

FAC has been out of the FSE parts for a loooong time. They used FSE in their "six pack", so you are out of luck. Currently it seems that there are few if any US H/T/S sets available. DSA said "backordered until June" back in March. FSE is gone. There are two new companies trying to get into the parts business but they have yet to start delivering.

Good luck, I have US parts for one rifle, but three kits.

Guess I might also need to replace the buttstock then.

They still have them listed on their websites and in their ads.

Man I miss FSE US HTS's, there in all my FALs.  Medicman, I'd stay away from anything century made.  I like DSA gas pistons/tapco's are OK also, there are still FSE pistolgrips available, DSA pistol grips and handguards are excellent also.  Penguin makes a decent buttstock, but I do not like their canted handguards.  Falcon over at falfiles is going to introduce a US HTS in July, so I'm waiting for this.  Falcon also makes US mag followers and floor plates, that counts as two compliance parts also.

I forgot about the mag followers and floor plates.  Only thing is I would have to change them out in all my mags.

Does Falcon advertise here?

I have built mostly off of Imbel kits, and have found their trigger pulls to typically be pretty good - so I've usually kept their HTS sets in... I also think their hanguards are the best going - offering the best heat protection and durability out of all the handguards available... So, my 922 list typically is:

Receiver - Dan Coonan
Muzzle device - FSE
Gas piston - Tapco
Pistol Grip - Wolfsburg Bob's or SAW
Buttstock - Penguin
Mag floor plate - Falcon
Mag follower - Falcon

Or, sometimes I'll substitute a Tapco charging handle for one of the above... Also, I use the FSE "fake" combo device because of NY's asinine AWB - but there are a few vendors over to the FALfiles who make and sell US made flash hiders, should you decide to go that route...

FAC's web site has been down and Jen locked their forum on the FALFiles.

Just noticed that.  Hopefully falcon has h/t/s sets available in the next few weeks.

Just a note, Entreprise lists US made hammers and sears on their site. I have never used them. Entreprise returned an e-mail rather quickly about availability, they are in stock.

Much appreciated.  Looks like they have everything I need to get this thing up and running so I can move onto the next project.

Let us know how their hammer and sears function.  Oh and if you need a trigger, let me know, got a few.

I ordered a blemished set of US furniture for $25 plus shipping.  Buttstock, handguards and pistol grip.  I'm getting the rifle refinished when it's built anyway, so that's a hell of a deal.  Going to order a receiver and a h/t/s next payday.  Hope to have it finished by the end of the month.   Will be my first .308 rifle.  Then I'm going to build a G3 and a cetme, if I can find the kits.

There are two different FAC related threads on the FALFiles. It seem that FAC is changing ownership. Not sure if a partner is buying out another, if a new investor is taking over or what.

I have not personally talked to anyone at FAC, so I do not know if operations will or have been interrupted, other then their web site.

Once you build an FAL there will be no need for a G3 or a cetme.

I ALWAYS check with GPG first - great deals, great service - and James is just an outstanding person to deal with.. I've had many transactions with GPG, and ALL were positive experiences - you won't be sorry you went to him...

I second that.  He has the lowest prices, plus free shipping.  Everything that I have ordered has arrived very quickly.

I still want one of each.  But FAC is the only place I've seen the kits.
