[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Shortest LOP?

OK. So I admit it. Way back when I said i'd never build another FAL?..........I LIED!

I'm thinking light and easy to swing for this one. So which FAL stock is the shortest?

izzy LB, STG, Imbel, SA XL

i've also got 3 different G1(?) wood stocks that are all slightly longer than the izzy LB which is the shortest amongst my samples. izzy is about the same as the STG until you add the big rubber pad to the STG.

here's a long & short pic (before i 'floated the SA58 [bipod was on just for look-seeing] )
the shorty's cropped @ 16.5"

Hmm, Will a G1 or Izzy metal buttplate fit on an STG stock? Just trying to firure out how to get the lightweight of the synthetic stock and the LOP of the wood in the same package.

Pretty sure I've even got an old g1 plate in my boxOfalparts.

well, from the stuff i have on hand it seems it'd be alot of tinkering.
for my shorty i think i'm going back to my plan of using an inch lower with the shortest plastic stock / pad combo.

didnt the brits do a inch stock that was shorter? i thought i saw one on gunthings.com some peble grain. short sotck.

Well thanks for trying. I think Im gonna find an STG stock and see what I can come up with.

just tried an L1A1 metal buttplate and if you don't mind screwing into the STG butt it should go right on. mine would need a few taps on one end of the plate to line it up perfect but it's real close as is.

You can always go custom length, chop down your stock, add a buttpad/plate.
