Again, I reccomend DSA.  get the U.S. Made FAL Paratrooper Stock Assembly for $379.   http://www.dsarms.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=P120USSET&storeid=1&image=usparakit.gif

Its lighter than the Imbel steel and aabout the same price.  I dont thnk you scope mount will work, you have to get the Para version.

You dont need a smith to do the conversion.  you can do it yourself in about 5 minutes.

IIRC, the SAR48  does not need any US parts.  Just swap your internals.

ETA:  Oh, add a few more minutes to my 5 min estimate above if swapping internals.  But you still dont need a smith.

One more thing.  Go to Tapco.com and get yourself one of these
www.tapco.com/product_information.asp?number=BK2483&back=yes&dept=62&last=62

Its got step-by-step disassembly and assembly instructions geared toward the average 5th grade educated Brazilian.  It also shows you how to properly fire a granade from the FAL.

Depending on what top cover you use you MAY need to have the receiver PARA cut.

Para cut reciever is something to think about, changing out the lower is no harder then changing the lower on an AR, just one take down pin less.
