The quality is all over the place.

I would suggest checking some of the kits built by Ohio Rapid Fire, Arizona Response Systems, DSA, etc.

They may cost a little more, but they're definitely worth it.

Quality IS all over the place...however I bought one a few years ago for $300...had an inch lower and a metric upper! Leaked gas like crazy and had loose screws all over...but I worked on it, and fundamentally it was sound, good barrel and so on...today it is a fine shooter, but damn ugly.

well fellas, its too late, I have the century in hand.  It actually looks ok.. The barrel looks like it might be chrome lined?..  Can anyone confirm/deny?  Also, as gewamser said, mine appears to be mostly inch pattern, but it takes metric mags.. hmm.. The fit and finish are not the greatest of course, but honestly if I changed the furniture out with something quality, it would look pretty nice.  I probably wont even touch it as it isnt too shabby to begin with.  Have yet to see how she shoots, I have this nagging voice in the back of my head that is telling me to have the headspace checked first.. But Ill probly just go shoot it and if it doesnt explode, mission accomplished.

Metric mags will work in inch pattern receivers, they just wobble a bit side to side. To the best of my knowledge, all Century FAL's were built from milsurp parts kits and have chrome lined chambers and barrels.

If people would stop buying these POS rifles, Century would either need to improve their quality control or go out of business.  Be warned of any compnay that only gives a 90 day warranty on their firearm FROM THE DAY IT LEAVES THEIR WAREHOUSE.
