| I am what you would call an excellent customer at my local dealer. Him and I have a deal worked out whenever anything FAL comes in, I get called first. Well....yesterday I jusy picked up a brand new never fired Izzy HB made by the good people at Springfield Armory, yep one of those and pre-ban!!!!! Good things can happen in this world. Don't as me how much i got it for, it will ruin everybody's day (it was a steal) |

Very nice! Now, you do realize what you can do with that right? You can buy a complete para kit from FWRA at the FALfiles for $645 and strip your SAR48 and sell the complete parts kit for about $700 to $800. Prices are falling on the Izzy H-bar due to the impending shipments of the 50.41 kits, but for SAR48 take-offs, you should still get a nice premium. This only applies if you want a legal, pre-ban para. If not, that Izzy is an absolute blast at the range. Of all my FALs, it is the most fun to just waste ammo down range! Set it on the ground with the bipod and see how fast you can dump the mag. With very little practice, you'll be down under 7 seconds and all rounds will at least be on the target! |
Yes that could be done I guess, that in mho would be crazy. I missed this being a "convertable" weapon by a year. Built in 87, called Springfield. This rifle's accuracy is on par with my M1A and if I had to guess I would say the prvious owner maybe put 20 rounds through it. It is by all accounts, brand new except for of course whatever the Israeli's did to it, but it really appears by all accounts to be have been fired very little before me if at all. The bore is mint. This was the score of the year. Plus 3 israeli marked magazines, how often you see those? |

Oh believe me... I completely agree that you got a great gun. In fact, my favorite gun for range blasting is my Izzy HB. I should have made my point more clear though. You can currently build an Izzy on any receiver as long as you have the required compliance parts, but you can't build a para. Your SAR48 can be built into a legal para without any compliance parts. Those Izzy parts you remove can be used on any post ban receiver and you'll still have something as "authentic" as your original. Either way you slice it, you've got a great gun there! |
| You want to hear the funny part? I may actually be doing to reverse of this soon. FWRA is selling 50.41/42 kits that are not only unissued but even never assembled! We still are not sure if it will have a type 1, 2 or 3 lower. If its a type 3, I'm stripping my SAR48 receiver and using that. My SAR48 has already gone from being a 50.00 to a bastardized 50.63 para. |
| In the HBar boat as well. Liked the Izzys, never found the right deal, in on FWRAs Aussie deal. I also have this Aussie Lithgow parts FAL that was one of the early Century FALs with the sturdy Bell & Carlson rear stock, still had the 3 test rounds zip tied to the trigger guard when I scored it $250 at auction last fall. Shoots well as-is, and unless there are any rude suprises re-barrelling it will be a cheap and easy initial build. And FWRA is 15 min form me :) |
