I have a DSA mount now but was thinking about getting one of the Tapco half mounts. The one that has the stripper clip slot in front. I have an Elcan mounted on the DSA mount but thought I could cut a little weight in the mount and lose my mag loader. I wanted to know if the Tapco mount is as rigid as the DSA one. I don't have any problems hitting at 600 yards and don't want to lose the ability because I switched mounts. Any imput will be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have a good mount, keep it. IMHO, you will not feel a few ounces on any FAL variant.

The Tapco stripper clip mount is well-made, so there ought to be no rigidity issues.
However, due to the nature of the mount, a good deal more dust, sand, and crap can enter the action, even when the bolt carrier is in battery.
I echo CavVet's suggestion that you stay with what you have.
