Well here goes.I was thinking that it would be possible for Springfield Armory to make a PostBan Legal version of the M14E2.I say that because the M14E2 used a muzzle brake over top of the Flash Hidder and of course it would have to be made permanent. My question is does anyone think that the rifle would sell?

Yes i think it would sell very well.I really think the scout/bush versions would sell best.

I like the idea of the M14E2 with a shorter barrel and permanent muzzle brake, but would like it even better with a folding stock. Here's an idea I've been toying with. A couple of guys on Culvers Shooting Page posted a while back about a M1/M14 hybrid that one of them designated the M1N (N being the 14th letter in the alphabet). http://pws.prserv.net/stixsmg/

I've been thinking of taking this one step further and making one in a scout configuration (short barrel w/ Smith Enterprise muzzle brake)and with a folding stock. Because the receiver is both pre-ban and doesn't accept a detachable box magazine, it would not be subject to any pesky knee jerk "assault weapons" bans or hysteria. Just a good practical bush/CQB/truck gun.

I think the straight stock would be better than the folder.

Why do you think the straight stock would be better than the folder? Obviosly, one can get a better cheek weld with a straight stock, but a folding stock and bush barrel would make it more compact. The bush barrel would already reduce long range accuracy, so I was thinking more about a short to medium range with only some long range potential. More of a stash it behind the seat of the truck, take it through heavy brush or climbing a tree or rocks kind of rifle.
