| I placed my first ever order with them last month. I think they should have gotten my check and documentation on the 20th. I called a few days later and she said they were opening envelopes from the 16th. Anyway I don't want to keep bugging them. What is the normal procedure? Will I get an email stating that my order is approved? She did say that I should get my order by Christmas but I just don't know what to expect from this point. Thanks. |
| You will probably get a message, e-mail, giving you the status of the order. You can also log in to your CMP account and see where things stand. Head over to the CMP site and get into the forum. Lot's of info there and guys tracking orders. Hope you geta nice one! |

Awesome. Thanks. Just went with the $730 Service Grade. Hoping it's nice.
ETA: I don't think I have an account. I followed the instructions and sent everything through mail. Do I need to wait for some sort of confirmation that I've been accepted to set an account up? |

Some folks submit a self addressed and stamped card with their packet of paperwork. The CMP would mail it back to you with a hand written note of your rifle serial number.
On stuff that may sell out quickly, folks send their packet with a signature required/delivery confirmation. If you have your membership ID number, there may still be an online data check of your order status. Calling them may not speed things up...its truely hard to wait for your items without any estimate of "how much longer"...so I feel your pain. It has been my experience that the CMP will deliver a good item, but the wait can vary due to demand. My own worst wait was for a Springfield 1903 several years ago. The CMP had rifles for sale at the CMP Western Games early on at Camp Pendelton. I looked at many rifles until the right one came to me. The CMP could not sell the rifles right there, so I had to hang a reserved tag on it, then wait for the crew to travel back to Aniston and process their rifle orders from the event. The rifle shipped out and made its way back to me. Seemed like a long wait at the time, was less than a month. Best way to check is online using your membership ID number, |

My only advice is to be patient. During the point when they were so backlogged it took six months to get your order it took several weeks to get a email saying they had received your order. Once they input you into the system you will be able to track what is going on with the order. There are very few people at the CMP to take care of the thousands of different types of orders they get. This is so that more of your money goes toward their prime goals, supporting shooting sports like the Camp Perry shoots.
Hang in there. The anticipation will not, quite, kill you. I speak from personal experience here. |

I've only done a couple via mail. I never bothered with the self addressed stamped envelope, and I've never heard of them messing up someone's order (and if they have, their service in making up for shortcomings has always been first-rate). Last time I ordered one via mail was a long time ago and it took maybe 3 months. That was probably 15 years ago. Way back in the day, I had one show up after 18 months... These days, I'd probably ping them at the 3 or 4 month point; but you'll certainly be smiling with a big long box in-hand well before then. Heck, you may have timed it flawlessly for a Christmas M-1! Ohhh, I how envy you! BTW: I always included a small handprinted, humbly stated p.s. on my order form asking for some detail that would fit within the criteria--back when they weren't separated by make, I asked "if it isn't too much trouble, I'd like a Winchester." And later on, "a nice finish on the metal", or "a great barrel for match shooting." They never failed to oblige. Heck, if you didn't do that already, I'd call and put in your wish. The key is to make it not too ambitious. |

You mail in your order
Within a few days, they process your paperwork and send you an e-mail confirming they have received your order. The e-mail will contain your customer number. Once you have a customer number, you can register on the e-store. You will get another e-mail when they start processing your actual rifle. You will get a shipping notification, usually a day later. When you get the shipping notification, you can log into the e-store and see your rifle serial number. The times between these steps vary, but the wait times now are the shortest I have ever seen. Some people were getting rifles in two weeks or so. When I first ordered a rifle back in 2006 or 2007, it took three or four months to get my first one. They are a pretty small organization, so every time you call them or e-mail them, instead of just waiting, it slows things down. For some reason, some people's e-mail systems block e-mails from the CMP, so they don't get the mentioned notifications. |
| There website says 2-3 weeks is the current lead time. However. Due to their one day sale of IHC Garands on 11/16/15 I think they got a huge surge of orders from guys hoping to get one of the IHC's and it's probably about a 3-4 week wait now. I mailed mine on 11/19. They received it on 11/23. I have had no word since. If I don't get an email by next Friday the 18th I'll panic a little because it's a Christmas present. |

Search for CMP and CCW yielded zip.
Does the CCW from any state (particularly states that do not have live fire or safety class requirements) satisfy the marksmanship requirement? Obviously from Alabama - I have an Alabama issued CCW permit. I have joined the collectors club. If my CCW will work, I think I'm ready. (Sorry for thread hijack, will start new thread if necessary) |
