I'm interested in buying a complete barreled action from one of the two. Fulton Armory M14 Enhanced vs LRB Standard M14.
Both are priced pretty much the same though the Fulton enhanced looks like it comes with a few more perks than the LRB(option of chrome barrel, NM upgrades). Which is better and why? Is there an even better route to go than these two brands for the price (+-$2100.00)? |

I never owned either, but from what I have seen, LRB tends to hold it's value better than FA. I never get rid of guns so whether or not it holds its value isn't all that important to me. I'm just looking for the best quality for that dollar amount on a complete barreled action. |

If you never clean the bore, leave the rifle laying in the mud for days, and don't know squat about rifle maintenance, get the chrome lined bore. That's why it is chrome lined. For accuracy, a chrome lining can NOT be laid down uniformly over the entire length of a .30" hole.
Other than that, you have chosen the top of the suppliers and you can't go wrong with either. In my opinion, both are over priced (but that happens when you are the best). |

One scintilla I'd throw out on the chrome bores.
The current technology of plating the bores is a lot more refined than the technique used in the M14 original arsenal production. Some of the GI bores would actually flake the chrome plating out their throats with use and usually kill the accuracy when it happened. The FN SPR sniper rifles. Yep, they're chrome lined and they shoot as good as any in the sniper rifle class of barrels. I have one USGI barrel with a chrome lining, a Winchester barrel. I have an 18" Criterion chrome lined. My first M1a had a SS barrel. They all shoot good. yep on the prices on the big guys. I see their receivers are approaching whole rifle prices from the other guys. It's good to see used M1a's available at around $1200 again. Seeing USGI type builds for $2500 was a bit much in my estimation but they weren't mine for sale.

| I've got three SAI and two LRB platforms. SAI makes a damn fine rifle. LRB receivers, as a previous poster mentioned, are hammer forged. Dimensions of the latter match four USGI M14 receiver halves the best. Maybe its my imagination, but the ring the receiver makes when the bolt slams home, the fluidity all the parts exhibit when in the LRB receiver, the seemingly lighter weight with the same strength, and other reasons, all contribute to an overall fine package I want to shoot the most. Full disclosure here: the most accurate M14/M1A I own is an SAI NM loaded model. HTH |

| I've had the springfield scout rifle since 2012 and have been pleased with it, I'm just wanting a new production full size rifle with chrome bore and have heard good things about Fulton and LRB. I agree with everyone here they're overpriced for what they are but I guess that's how it goes. |

IMHO I would go with LRB over Fulton if you are going to spend an $XXXX amount already with Fulton Armory. Why? You will get a top notch forged receiver rather than a cast receiver with Fulton. Not trying to convey a good cast receiver is bad either. What specific advantages does a forged offer over cast? |

What does every body know about James river armory rifles? I just got one with the 22" chrome lined barrel. Not a lot of rounds down range yet. Seems accurate with ZQ1 and my 53 year old eyes. Have not really shot it for groups yet. Seemed like about 1.5 to 2 MOA when I was zeroing the irons. After that just shooting steel at 100 and 200 yds. Fit and finish are great. Just got a scope and mount so will have to follow up later with range report on how she groups scoped and bagged.... |
