| My son wants us to put a scope on our SOCOM so he can try shooting with it. Our range is a "whole" 200 meters, so it isn't needed, but I'll humor him. I need to get a scope mount for the SOCOM, but as you can see by what I've described, it isn't necessary for a top of the line mount. If someone could refer me to a baseline mount with an acceptable quality (I know, what the heck is that), I'd appreciate it. |

Scoping an M1A is a rather delicate exercise. I had an ARMS on mine that was pretty good, even if it was ARMS.
Sadlak seems to make a good mount, as well, along with a good deal of info about ensuring your receiver is in spec. If you don't buy a quality mount, you will simply be frustrated. |

Go Bassett. probably your cheapest, read that as least expensive, quality mount. Usually not more than $150. Claim returns to within 1" of zero or so when torqued correct after removal. Also works with those SAI receivers that are out of spec. What is all this about out of spec receivers? I don't understand? |

Go Sadlak or go home. Use their kit if your Reciever is not in spec they will machine your mount for a perfect fit. What is all this about out of spec receivers? I don't understand? The dimensions of SAIs receivers can vary a bit from the original government drawing. |

If it is going to come on and off a lot , then I also recommend the Bassett mount... really no frills and on / off ease.

A traditional scope or a nice RDS? It would be a traditional scope or a variable. If the Springfield Armory receivers are sometimes out of specs, how can Springfield Armory sell mounts, knowing that the mounts, rings, and scope might be a waste of money? |
