Are m1 Garand extractors and m1a-m14 extractors interchangeable?

Yes

Tip on interchangeability of parts between M1 and M14/M1A

The nice thing for us is that the M14 was an updated M1, therefore, many of the parts interchange. Please note I did not say "improved" M1 because the necessity of the magazine is debatable, however the gas piston arrangement of the M14 is a definite improvement.
OK, first are the rear sight components. These are totally interchangeable. Doesn't matter if they are standard or National Match. (You often have to try several rear sight covers on BOTH rifles to get one that has good tension and causes the rear sight base to spring back properly.) On some of the commercial M1A receivers, the rear sight area was made so poorly that the only sight you can put on them is one of the WWII Garand lock bar sights. However, this info can save someone's bacon, if they can't return the rifle to the manufacturer.
The extractor and extractor spring & plunger (usually comes as an assembly) are the same parts in both rifles.
Now we go to the trigger mechanism and this info can become pretty handy. The hammer, hammer pin, hammer spring, hammer spring plunger without ears (you can modify the M14 trigger housing to accept the WWII one with ears), trigger (the M1 will work in the M1A but you have to modify the sear on the M1A trigger to get it to work in the Garand), trigger pin and safety all are interchangeable. Note: I recommend putting an M1 trigger in all M14's/M1A's (unless it is a licensed fully automatic M14) because you don't have to modify it for only semi-automatic firing and it will never hang up in an M14/M1A stock.
The lower buttplate screw (the machine threaded one) and the rear sling swivel are identical. The M14/M1A upper buttplate screw is longer than the M1, but if the M1 buttstock is too worn for an M1 upper screw, you could drill a clearance hole for the unthreaded portion of the screw and use the M14 screw. Many commercial M1A stocks are set up for the shorter M1 screw.

M1 extractors fit the M14 nicely and the USGI versions are (I believe) forged and machined, not cast like commercial M14 extractors.  Genuine USGI M1 extractors are still available packaged in grease.
