What red dot are you guys running on your scout squads? I'm looking at either an eotech exps 3-0 or aimpoint t-1. I'm wondering about mounting height and being able to get a good cheeck weld. Pics would be helpful. |

I personally prefer and recommend the Eotech XPS2. Its the the fastest and easiest of all the sights I own (Eotech, Aimpoint, Acog, Scopes), its also cheaper than all the sights I own. Some will tell you to get the EXPS2 with taller mount and "1/3 cowitness". I disagree, in order to use the EXPS2 you need to change your (my) natural cheek wield and "reach" a little over your front sight. But you can change your cheek wield and look over your front sight (If thats what you want to do) with the XPS2 without the added weight of the riser (or money). Just my 2 cents

I ran an EOTech on my Scout for a couple years. Love the standard reticle with it's 1 MOA center dot, but you will need a cheek riser if you use the factory scout mount. I switched over to the Aimpoint Micro T-1 a couple years ago, it will co-witness the iron sights if you replace the factory scout mount with an UltiMAK M8, or the lighter Scout Hand Guard (SHG), and you will not need a cheek riser with his combo. I think you can also mount the PRO low enough on the SHG to co-witness without a cheek riser. Micro T-1 on a SHG http://www.athenswater.com/images/WT-CQB-16.JPG That is badass. I want my m1a to look like that someday any reliability issues running the can on it? |

Thanks, and I have not experienced any reliability issues after about 8 years of running a suppressor on M14/M1A/MK14 rifles. |

Get an Aimpoint--my vote is for a T1. EOTechs just love to die on you when you really need them. Aimpoints don't have that problem. If I had a dollar for every time I've seen an EOTech run out of batteries on the range, I could probably buy a T2 ![]() The reflector broke on Undefined's EoTech at the spring Hometown Shoot while I was bump-firing his 5.45 AR. One second it was working, the next something started flopping around inside the scope. He sent it back, they fixed it, but refused to give him an answer as to what actually broke. |
