recently I traded one of my ar's for a like new springfield m1a scout squad, I was hesitant to make the trade but the value was close and I liked the looks and feel of the m1a. Included in the trade were 110 rounds of ammo 60 of which are the federal m1a "match" load. I also received a 10 round mag, 2 20 round mags, and one 30 round mag. The 30 round mag is garbage but both the twentys work great. I haven't had a chance to shoot the rifle at any distance but I did do a function test at about 50 yards. I fired 10 rounds prone and 20 rounds rapid fire standing. The rifle functioned flawlessly and was very controllable. I think the muzzle break that comes on these helps a great deal.
Unfortunatly im in the middle of moving and wont get to shoot this awesome battle rifle for awhile. The only complaints I have are that the plastic stock is too thick around the mag well and it is difficult to lock in the mags, the safety is also very stiff. Im hoping both of these smooth out with some use I would put the round count at no more then 200 rounds total. Im planning on picking up about 10 CMI mags once I recover from the expense of moving and get settled in. I plan on getting an aimpoint micro t-1 to mount on the scout rail but the irons sights work very well and are some of the best sights I have ever used. Overall I am very happy with the quality of this rifle. I usually trade guns quite a lot but I think this one is going to stay for good. sorry no pics but its just a standard m1a scout squad with od green plastic stock. |
Nice!

Sell the plastic stock and get a USGI fiberglass one. The safeties are fairly stiff on all M1/M14 pattern rifles--it's just something you either have to get used to, or just don't use the safety. Personally, I just don't use it. |
