Im about to buy an m1a from springfield to put in a sage ebr chassis and i want to know people's opinions on the 18" scout squad  or the 22" standard, which do you prefer and why

I've been perfectly happy with my regular 22" M1A. Is is as accurate as my 700 SPS Varmint (also in .308)? No. But I still like the M1A for what it is.

My 18" Bush barrel assembly is heavier than my USGI barrel assembly.  Barrel diameter is larger.

What is your intended use? How far do you plan on shooting?

Mostly deer hunting and some target shooting, i want to be shooting comfortably at no less than 300yrds

The 18.5" will get you out to 800yds no problem. After that, the 22" has the advantage. Either will do you fine.

I believe 18 inches of barrel is the best length for general purpose M1A Mayhem.

My first was a Scout that I replaced with two MK14 EBR variants. They are accurate & handy.

I currently have a 22 in. SAGE EBR, and a surprisingly light 16.25 in. Blackfeather RS.

Will this be your first M14 pattern rifle?

That's going to be a heavy deer rifle....just sayin'.  I have the scout dropped in a sage and it is a pig.....a heavy, fairly accurate, reliable, fun, pig.

It may be heavy for deer but it will put them down
