. The main role of this rifle for me is a patrol rifle. I'm tired of being out-gunned on the streets and giving me an M4 seems to almost make me even. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa160/bigblue64-07/Mobile%20Uploads/000_0003_zps2df53b2a.jpg Could you give two or three instances where you personally were "outgunned on the street"? Could you give two or three instances where you personally were "outgunned on the street"? Paladin Wouldn't just one time be enough? Sure. Though I think he's getting at the "tired of" which implies that it happens reasonably frequently or regularly, enough to be a wearying bother. Besides which, there are precious few instances of a cop with a semi-auto rifle (in a rifle caliber) actually being "outgunned" in recent history. Meaning the suspect possessed more or more effective firepower than the officer(s). |

SOCOMs are 3-6 minute guns that don't take to magnified optics well. I can see why a 7.62 could be handy for checkpoints or something but I'd feel underfunded with this vice an M4. It's not longer ranged and it can't equal an M4 up close.
Looks like it would be a fun range gun though. |

I guess any mass produced M1A could be a 3-6 MOA rifle, but it's been my experience that the rigid 16.25" is much more accurate than that. Scoping the M14 has been an issue since day one, but there are 'new & improved' solutions... the M4 is a nice carbine... |

SOCOMs are 3-6 minute guns I could understand 3-4 MOA for a SOCOM in a flimsy Springfield synthetic stock using cheap ammo with a shooter that isn't very experienced, but 5-6 MOA is not very realistic at all. It doesn't take much work or money at all to get them to shoot under 2 MOA, and there are several that shoot sub-MOA groups. Quoted:

Just a set of Low Profile 30 mm rings. You can go with the cheapo Barska rings, or up to Daniel Defense for a sawbuck.

I don't know if it would help much, but I might try a flash hider instead of the muzzle brake if you are going to hunt with it. I have a Scout Squad (the 18" version) with a brake and it is really loud. I think they look better with a FH anyways, I just can't have one in the shit hole I live. Makes the gun too dangerous with a FH.
You might want to replace the ghost ring sights with the standard sight for any distance shooting. I also replaced my black synthetic stock with a walnut M14 stock from Fred's. |
