I have one built by the army marksman unit no issues with it at all. Basically its a barrel change and stamped to say 308 win on it (barrel).

I can't comment on the commercial 308 Garands, but my CMP rebuild is great.  Unless the price is GREAT, I would go through the CMP and get a Service Grade Special in 308.

I had a Garand rebarrelled to .308 a few years ago using a barrel I got from Brownells. It ROCKS to put it lightly.

I have one of the "new" Springfield Armory M1's in 308. Great rifle, works good and no problems!! I like having common ammo with my M1A's!!!

I have a CMP Navy rebarreled Garand in 308/7.62 and it functions just fine.  My son claimed it, and says it recoils less than a standard Garand.  I also have a "Tanker" Garand in 308 and it works well too.

I built 2 of the Tankers I .308 a long time ago.  They worked fine as long as you had good Enbloc clips.  When they start to lose their tension you will start to have rounds feed over the top of the chamber.

This one was put together by Warbird from one of the cheap Greek rack grades the CMP had years ago. While he was putting it together I was using BLO on the unfinished Wenig standard walnut stock set. I believe it has about 50 coats of BLO on it by now. It is a great shooter and one of these days I will try some match ammo in it and get someone who can really shoot to see how good it can be. Even with my mediocre skills I managed a 3 inch 100yd group from the bench with cheap SA surplus.
