Just wanted to here what optics and rings people on running on their MK14 Mod 0 or Mod 1? Looking to hear peoples experiences with different optics and input of what they use on these weapon system. I was looking into the Nightforce NXS Compact line of optics currently.  Thanks.

Are you speaking of issued optics or just what works well?  Remember the Mod 0 was supposed to fill the 762 battle rifle void that the MK17 has now filled, and that is why it had select fire capability.  Starting with the Mod1 and now the Mod2 it has become more of a designated marksmen rifle.

The 6000 plus TACOM M14EBR-RI rifles took over the DMR role.
The Mod 2 fills a very specific role, and I'm not really sure how the Mod 0 and Mod 1 are being utilized today.

The M14 DMR is much different than the MK14, they are as different as say, the Army and the Navy!

Yep, and just in case it's not clear, the NAVY Mod 2 ain't no DMR...

Well, take that up with Dave, cause all the manuals and everything else say it is.

With that PRS stock I think its a great canoe paddle myself

It would definitely make for an great paddle, you could also clip on a mono-pod-blade and use it as an axe

We seem to have a rare convergence of military acronyms, and I admit that I can't decipher all of them. Dave and I discussed the Mod 2 and more over a few cold ones a few months ago, the man knows a great deal about beer.

The official description as I know it:

USN MK14 Mod 2 EBR-EDMV

Expeditionary Designated Marksman Variant ~ Precision Requirements for Designated Marksman or Sharpshooter Rifles in general will vary, just as with Sniper Rifles, based on Target Size and Expected Effective Range. NSWC Crane tests for Precision linked to the lot of ammunition used, such as allowing for an Extreme Spread (ES) up to 1/2 MOA larger than the ammunition must achieve. The X-Treme Shooting Products Trigger Shoe is provided with the MK 14 MOD 2 to aid in precision fire. The original M14 SSR (Sniper Security Rifle) accuracy testing generally consisted of proving the system was able to get 5 consecutive shots inside a 4.5 by 4.5 inch square area at 300 yards. This roughly translates to the 1.5 MOA Extreme Spread which is currently verified for each MK 14 MOD 2. This allows for the NECC Expeditionary DM to engage vehicle engine targets at 800 meters, and EOD units can regularly hit unexploded 40mm grenades at a 150 meter stand-off.

You are correct, and Im not saying it can't fill the role of DMR, I'm just pointing out what it's primary job is.
Can you share any part of the manuals and everything else? Thanks.

The NAVY MK14 Mod 2 has a heavy barrel in a proprietary SAGE EBR chassis.
The heavy barrel chassis is available, but the 'in-line' butt stock assembly is a Mod 2 only item.
The scope is a Nightforce 3.5-15X NXS (MilDot)

For comparison: My Crazy Horse M21A5 EBR has a medium heavy barrel and the standard PMRI/PRS2 butt stock assembly.
The step down to the PRS2 allows use of irons sights, the Mod 2 does not have iron sights... I added the beefy recoil pad.
