| I've been thinking about getting an M1A for a while, and only recently discovered that there are more companies that sell M14's than just Springfield. One that I recently noticed was LRB, and with the price spike they're all selling for about the same. So I'm trying to understand, what are these companies, what are their pro's and cons, are they really selling cross-compatible designs, what niche do they fill. |

LRB is top of the line in the M-14 world - they make the best. Their receivers are forged, where as Springfield receivers are cast. That's not to say that Springfield M1As are shit - they're not, but for overall quality, fit, and finish, I'd say LRB is number 1.

I don't think LRB is a good value... There are better values out there and better machined than LRB...
SEI for you don't want cast. They are machined out of bar stock Fulton... cast.... if you don't need the barging rights Best value in my book... though I have not seen their prices since the panic Polly or Norinco for forged... |
