| Need help on this, i found a Polytech M14 for sale in the local shop. It is preban , question is what's this thing worth? |

It's a heel stamped receiver, looks original, unknown round count. Looks to be about %85 to %90 condition. The stock has a couple spots that have been filled and there is a little bit of surface rust on the barrel. Very small spot.
Comes with a 20 round mag and scope mount installed. |

Best guess: $900 +/- ... any used Chinese M14 under $800 is a deal. Heel stamped receivers tend to bring premium prices, but the seller may not know this. https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/529781_428513237165870_1830896716_n.jpg I have S/N 00128 with a heel stamp. Which one is yours? ka |

Great, more old school Poly's. Have you guys had any bolt issues? Still rocking the original bolt or have you had conversions done? I have read about the issues, but mine still gauges ok on 7.62 headspace gauges. It hasn't been shot all that much, perhaps fewer than 500 rounds down the pipe in the 16 years that I've had it, and probably less than that from the former owner.
I'll post a picture when I get the chance. ka |

What's the quality difference between heel stamped received and side stamped receivers? Virtually none. Finish on one may well be a little better than the other, but no real difference in quality. AIRBORNE!!!!! Yep, the difference is aesthetics. |

I handled one at a local pawn shop today side stamped NIB with all accessories and mags still in the styrofoam and little brown rust inhibitors attached to rifle for $1,100 and change FWIW
ETA: found it on Gunbroker |

Mine is side stamped #04123.
Bought the first one I saw in this area, back in the 90's. Paid $499 for it many years ago. Shot NRA Hi-Power with it three years. Has more rounds through it than I care to think about. I'm guessing at least 2,500- 3,000. No issues whatsoever. Even shot Palma with 190 gr. heavy loads Been retired because I screwed up and let a hack gunsmith do a trigger job, and the sear has gone away. I just haven't gotten it fixed because I'm not shooting it. Thinking about buying a complete GI trigger assembly for it. Best move I ever made was replacing the fiberglass handguard for the early wooden handguard. Way more comfortable. It would take more than $900 to buy mine, it's worth more than that in sentimental value. |
