Alright, so I got the Poly running. The previous owner didn't assemble it correctly and I shot the rifle without fully understanding how the rifle worked. You sure learn a lot by troubleshooting.
Next problem. I want to put a SEI or Sadlak mount to stick an EoTech/Aimpoint on it but the rifle ejects everywhere! Anywhere from 11:00 to 4:00. How do I fix it so I can use a scope mount with it? |

Two options for tinkering with ejection,
File a slightly changed angle to the face of the ejector Tune or shorten the ejector spring Other stuff to experiment with are different extractor, gas piston, op rod spring and ammunition. As long as the rifle is shooting and ejecting empty brass, trying to get your specific rifle tuned for ejection path is gonna be lots of trial and error...no easy way to fix. Some folks live with the fact brass will impact the scope and mount (if its over the bolt way)...even knowing said brass may get deflected back into the receiver, causing a jam. |

You could go with a scout set up and then not worry about it. Plus, you don't know for sure if how it's ejecting will actually be a problem with a scope mount without trying it. I would think it has more to do with how vertical they are leaving. Most M1 types should throw it forward some. It usually bounces off the op rod handle / tab. 4 oclock seems a little weird, but I'm not sure that it's all that terrible. You could get a USGI extractor and see if it changes anything. And yeah, maybe a new ejector and spring. Have you had the bolt apart and cleaned it well? Maybe the ejector is sticking. Or something is gummed up.
Also, an eotech might be kind of high once you get it on a mount above the receiver. You might be better off with a tube of some sort. There was a thread that showed BHD replicas people have built and someone has a mount that has a single rail very near the front of the receiver that would also have more clearance than one that goes all the way across the top. Let me see if I can find you it..... hereitbe The very last rifle on page one has one of the mounts I'm talking about, I believe. And I should correct myself, it has a rail at the front and the rear, but is open in the middle, leaving more clearance than a full rail. That may or may not help. I would think it might a little. |

AFAIK those split ARMS #18 mounts are no longer made and I really don't want to cut one down. I just bought a SEI for a good price and I'll sell it if it doesn't work out for me. I'm not a fan of the front mounted ones because of the weight but I guess that's what I'll do if the SEI doesn't work out.
I'll also get one of those stock risers to help with the cheek weld. The only reason I'm using an EoTech is because I bought one for stupid cheap. I'll play around with it until I sell it and buy an Aimpoint PRO. |
