I see that the CMP is selling barreled receivers. It looks like it comes with quite a bit. What else would I need to make a complete Garand?
At the bottom of the page Thanks! Paul |

Quoted:
Stock set, metal for stock set, rear sights, gas cylinder and front sight, op rod, trigger group and bullet guide. (I think that is it). You don't need ammo or a bayonet but they are nice to have. Is it all easy enough to do for someone who is reasonably able to work with his hands? I'm thinking it may be a way for me to have one sooner by buying pieces over time and have some fun in the process. Thanks Paul |

Paul PAUL You will have much more in it when assembled than buying a Service Grade. Another thing to remember they are Grade B receivers and have pitting. I have hand picked several Grade B receivers at the North Store and was able to find a few that had no pitting. Many were pitted bad enough that I wouldnt buy them at half the price JMO |

I also pick up parts here and there at gun shows for spare parts or maybe if I have enough I would build one. The cost could be 1 1/2 time a SG rifle... Whichever way you go... We want pic's!!!!! and enjoy the history!!! |

Service Grade for the win.
The barreled actions kinda make sense if you have a bunch of spare parts lying around already––but between what you'd pay for the parts individually and the shipping costs for the parts you're WAY ahead just going and getting a Service Grade from the get-go. |
