You should be able to. Need to know the diameter of the mount.

Get a bolt gun or a flat top AR for a scope unless this is an M1C or M1D.

I have 8 Garands and I think scoping a Garand is a waste of time.

The scope has to be off to the side and that makes for some wierd cheek welds and other crap.

I think SCOUT scoping a Garand is worthwhile––I've used the Amega Ranges mount, Burris Ballistic Plex pistol scope, and the Amega Ranges is solid, and I also like being able to see the target out at 300 yards.

I think the Ultimak mount is probably a better looking variation, but I haven't tried one.

I can't do this with iron sights:

That's eight shots.  YMMV.

You might want to find out before buying, and look and see what your scope options are. the .mil used two different types with different diameters.

If its not already drilled for the mount then good luck. Also you will be permanently altering a receiver if its not already drilled.

That's an impressive group. What distance was it shot at and was it benched, prone, or what?

Thank you.  That was shot at 100 yards––benched atop an old gym bag.

Greek surplus (HXP '69) shoots about 1/3 looser groups.

If you want to go the scout scope route the Ultimak scout mount is the best out there.

What about the scout mount? Those seem to be pretty good mounts. (?)
