A few months ago, I ordered and received a NM leather sling from Turner. Other than video on how to attach the sling to the weapon, I have ZERO experience with leather slings. I've seen people talk about "treating" their leather slings. So is that something you're supposed to do when you first get your sling? Or is it okay that I took the sling out of the packaging and just attached it to the rifle without doing anything else?

If you ask this on the High Power Sub Forum in the Training section you'll probably get a faster answer.

Pecard's leather dressing.

Best stuff there is for leather.

DO NOT use Neatsfoot Oil.

You can just use it out of the box and let time and use soften the leather.  I rub Mink Oil into mine to speed up the process and help preserve the leather.

Nice choice in slings btw.

Oh, but in my opinion Ko-Cho-Line is better than Pecards....but we'll agree to differ

I don't use anything on my slings until they are broken in, usually takes a pretty good while of slinging up and using it....if you don't sling up like in High Power competition use what has already been suggested.

The best option is to contact Turner and ask them what they recommend, if anything.
They know more about their slings than anyone.

Don't oil it, you want it stiff as hell,
since when slung up tight in prone, the less the leather stretches, the better it will stay tight and keeps you on target.

If you are looking for just something to just carry the rifle, then you have went in the wrong direction by ordering a tuner sling.
