I just ordered my first in what I hope will be a long line of M1s and 1903s from the CMP!  I ordered the Danish issued Springfield with the VAR barrel.  I am not sure what VAR stands for yet, anybody know?  Does anyone have one of these, and has your experience been with it? BTW, if your bank won't notarize for free, get get a new bank.

i had my school notarize my stuff for free.  I wound up not getting the 1903 i ordered because it sold out.  They did call several times to ask em if i wanted to change my order to something else or add anything.  They were very helpful and friendly.  Going to order up what i can in m14 parts so i can start working on this m21 project.  Hopefully they arent backlogged like they were 3 months ago when the 1903 orders flooded in

Isn't there a CMP Store somewhere in Ohio where you can pick up a rifle?

I don't remember what "VAR" stands for but the Danish barrels are supposed to be as accurate as the most accurate U.S.G.I. standard barrels which are said to be the "LMR's" from the early 50's. I had a like new VAR barrel on an M-1 and it was an excellent shooter.

Aimless, the CMP store is at Camp Perry in Port Clinton. Once you qualify to purchase from the CMP you can walk in and buy off the shelf.
