I've been thinking of installing a bi-pod on my M1A Loaded but not sure which one to get. Also, I'm not clear about is the installation. Can I add one without putting another rail on it? Any ideas on this?
Thanks for any help,
Joe

This is what I used to mount a bipod on mine.

It's not an additional rail, it goes in place of the swivel plate that is already on the stock.

After that, any bipod you like with a picatinny mount can be used.

ETA, I see they are out of stock, a google search will turn up who has it in stock.

Thank you. What kind of bipod did you put on it?

Check out Sadlak. They have a sling swivel stud that replaces the  stock one. Than you can use the Harris bi pod.

Both the Versa rail or Sadlak well get the job done.  I've used both Harris and Atlas on my M14's.  The Sadlak stud with a Harris BR-S and pod-loc is a very good combination and it's affordable.

Here's a Harris on a Versa rail.

I use an Atlas B-10 NC, with the LaRue LT-171 mount.

Does the harris bipod mount on either a pictany (sp?) rail or a stud? or either?

Harris bipods attach to a stud but the company also offers a couple Picatinny rail adapters for its bipods (catalog numbers RBA and 638).  Harris Bipods web site is at www.harrisbipods.com.

Or you could just drop a harris adapter stud through the weep hole.  It will take about five minutes of fitting with a dremel, and cost 10 bucks.

You need the Pod Loc to lock the BR-S.

If you do a search you should find a the mod to make a lock for like $5.

The Sadlac I ordered has a post on it and not a rail system. Will I be able to get a harris bi-pod that swivels too? I've called harris company and they haven't returned my calls. Thanks for any help? BTW which harris bi pod would you recommend?
