I was looking to get a Troy drop in stock or an EBR stock for an M1A. I live in California (yes it is communist) and I need a bullet button for it. I was wondering if someone makes one or if an AK model can be made to work. I'm not selling it for a .308 AR due to the fact I sank a lot of money into the platform already and I'm used to it.

I need flat help on this!

I am not sure what CA law dictates in regards to magazines. Springfield makes 10rd mags you know.

The most common fix to your problem is to cut off the mag catch even with the bottom of the trigger group and put a small bevel on the inside edge to facilitate the easy use of a tool to remove the mag, Buy a spare mag latch for the time you want to restore normal funtion to the weapon.

Or you can buy a spare trigger group for back up if you go out of state often.

I'm not so sure you need a BB for your M1A.  Unless it has a flash hider or any of the other evil features, it is not an assault weapon in CA.  If it does have a FH, you can replace it with a brake/compensator.

You are restricted to using non-hicap mags so 10-round mags with no BB are OK.  Hicap mags would be OK if you can prove that they were manufactured, imported into CA, and you possessed them before 1-1-2000.

He put it in a TROY stock that has a pistol grip so, absent a bullet button-type device, it is now an illegal to possess, unregistered assault weapon.

He may have Federal issues, too.  The collapsible stock I saw rendered the SOCOM shorter than the 30" minimum allowed for civilians.  Even adding a bullet button won't fix this problem.

You are so correct.  The 30"OAL length thing also applies in CA as well.

An m1a in a troy stock with a collapsable butt stock excedes the 30 in minumum length in any barrel length.

Yes, but it has a pistol grip.  All by itself, in California, that feature makes it an illegal to own assault weapon.  Pay particular attention to the BIG blue box on the lower right side.

Which is why he wants a bullet button.

If you don't know what you are talking about, as you obviously don't, stay out of the conversation.

The bullet button he wants is to fix the magazine so it can only be removed by the use of a tool . As such he can avoid triggering assualt weapons status when adding any of the charateristics.
