the one I currently have is a cheap UTG mount, and its not that sturdy, so its time to upgrade. Whats a good mount that won't break the bank, and is around $120?

Thanks!

This,or a bassett for a few more dollars.

People talk alot of trash about the gen 3, but if you install it correctly you shouldnt have any problems or have to send back to the factory to fit your receiver.

By the time you realize that the M1A does not take kindly to cheap mount's. You will have spent enough on them to have afforded a good mount to begin with. Ask me how I know. Buy once cry once. I recommend Sadlak.

How do you know?

I think I remember

Was yours the one that was causing your scope to face to far to the right, because you didn't use the back screw to adjust horizontally?

No that wasn't me. I have a toolbox drawer with 3 cheap mounts in it that would not hold zero. I finally broke down and bought a Sadlak and have not had a single problem. This and other boards are full of threads about poor fitting mounts that won't hold zero. And I have seen many many more at the range I work at with problems. Buy once Cry once.

got ya, im guessing its from not having the main screw or lock nut tight enough. I had issues at first then tighten the main screw down until it was almost flush with the inside of the receiver and made sure the lock nut on the back was tight. No problems since.

But ya, if I had to do it over I would have gotten something else(probably bassett(ease of removing and reinstalling and keeping a close zero), but didn't know of any others at the time and haven't had a reason to buy a new one

The military uses/used them, so they cant be all that bad

The military used the Brookfield mount as well which is what the Sadlak and Smith mount's are. Allthough with improvments. I have heard many good reports about the Basset. And came real close to buying one. And than a good deal on a Sadlak came along. And I have not looked back

The main complaint I hear about the Gen 3. Is it come's loose unless you beat it on with a hammer to seat it......I'm not comfortable with beating on my M1A.
