I am not asking about whether or not this is an appropriate powder for the M1A. I know the likes of 4895/4064/Varget/RL 15 etc are the accepted powders for this rifle. I would like to know if anyone has used RL 17 in an M1A and how well it worked. |

Question::
Do you recommend reloader 17 in an M1A? I have heard the pressure curve is not correct to be used in that type of rifle. Answer:: My guess is that it might be a bit slow. I recommend RL 15 instead. Thanks for your note and have a nice weekend. From Ben at alliant powder. Dont doubt me foo

What I see is that the guys responsible for making it are only guessing at whether it will work or not. True in a sense. They don't know for sure for RL17, but they do know slow powders don't run well in M1As(RL17 is PRETTY slow). That's why they recommend RL15(good stuff). I'm sure if they ran some tests they would find it doesn't work well. Anyway, if you do try it out post the results |
