Which is a better scope mount for the M1A rifle, the ARMS #18 with #21 scope rings or the Brookfield type M21 mount that is made by Smith Enterprises.  What are the advantages and disadvantages of each mounting system?

both are rock solid and either would be fine  if you intend to use the rifle with the scope only.

If you want to use the irons in addiction to the scope go with the brookfield.  It has a sight channel to allow you to use them.  I havent mounted my arms18 so i cant say whether or not it maintains its zero when you remove it from the rifle.

Both of those scope mounts are the top 2 models available and it would be like trying to say which is better the firebird or the camaro?  both are very similar and are both good choices

The A.R.M.S. #21 will not work on the A.R.M.S. #18 unless you have a A.R.M.S. #19A (not ACOG)

I currently have a Smith mount with ARMS 22L rings.  The repeatability is well with in 1/4 MOA.  I recently shot a 3-gun match with my m21 doing all the rifle work.  I used the AIMPOINT ML for 200m and closer targets (8w x 12l plates) and a Leo Vari X III LR for 200-500m.  The quick change between relays was great and I have no complaints with the repeatability.

Ditto what WillieD said. I have the same repeatability with the ARMS #18 and the ARMS 22 throw rings.
