I was just wondering how easy/difficult it would be to transfer the Vltor extended cluster rail to another M1A?

I am asking because I was at the fun shop today and saw an SA Loaded w/extended cluster rail and thought the rail would look good on my Scout.  The Loaded, if purchased, would then go into the Sage stock I had planned for the Scout.  I was pretty impressed with the Vltor rail the few minutes I had my paws on it, it seemed very sturdy and I didn’t think it added that much weight to the front end as I initially thought it would.  I was just throwing ideas around, albeit expensive ones, so what do you think?

its not all that hard really
you remove the stock, and then remove the rail from the recever and barrel
i wouldn't think it would be much diffrent from any other M1A1

i guess the loaded with the cluster rail is a new thing too

You will have to remove the cartridge clip guide on your scout and replace it with the extended rail clip guide mount.  That is the hardest part of the swap, which is not that hard at all.  You will need a roll pin punch.

Not sure if it´ll help, but I have a SOCOM II wich I want it to take off the Vltor rails because it gets too heavy when long walks during hunting season, So I email SA and here´s what the told me:

Dear Mr. xxxxxx:

Thank you for your email.  Please be advised that the cluster rail is a factory installed item and we do not recommend removing it from your rifle.

Thank you and best regards,
XXXX

So...How'd you get the rail off?  That's an odd response coming from SA.  Anyhoo, this won't be the first/last time I've taken a firearm down past the operator level.  Just an update, I put the Loaded on layaway since they the shop wouldn't accept an interim driver's license while the replacement is being mailed out to me.  I figure I'll take it to the range a few times before deciding if I'll put the Loaded into the Sage stock or not.  Pics pending once I get back from vacation.

After that response I got from SA and sence I´m in Spain and I have the only SOCOM II in the country ...  and there are NO armorers that know anything on M14´s... I don´t feel very confortable messing around with it ... if I brake anything I´ll have a very hard time replaceing it ....
