I put the tip of the round in the end of the barrel and it goes about 1/8" from the top of the brass.
What does this say about the barrel?

That's about a 2. Not bad.

Ok good.  I did not know if it was worn out or not.
It is not like I am going to take her into battle but I know I will put some rounds down range and I can't wait.

If you can find a local gunsmith to recrown it, it will make a difference in how well it shoots.

But it should be OK as is.  Recrowning almost always helps.

That might depend on the bullet he is using as a ME gauge.  LC M2 ball is the standard for gauging in this manner.  If he is using a bullet with different ogive than M2 ball, I am not sure what it means.  In short...I did this same test with mine using Federal American Eagle (not the same ogive as LC M2 ball) and I didn't really think the test revealed much.

I used the American Eagle for M1 Grands.  Still waiting for CMP to ship my ammo I ordered a week ago.

I think it will be fine and can't wait to go shoot her.

I think we'll be waiting a while for that ammo to ship....

I emailed CMP and they said it is taking up to 30 days to ship the ammo out.
