Ok, I know the main difference as in correct parts, but how do the CMP service grades compare to corrects cosmetically? I always thought the Corrects were a lot nicer, but I've been seeing some gorgeous service grades posted lately. Thinking of going after one of the Corrects they now have listed, but if SG "looks" as nice I just might save the $300 extra. Anyone got a comparison pic?

I don't have a comparison pic however.

I was interested in buying a CG M1, I still am, and nearly did but, I saw  a couple of pics on the CMP forum of CG rifles that were mail ordered. One came thru w/o a front sight and the wood left a lot to be desired.

My question is, how can they ship a CG rifle that brings $950.00 w/o the front sight? IMO, it's not correct.

I don't have a problem with the price but if correct, I want a complete rifle.

I am aware of what the CMP description of correct is.

CORRECT GRADE: (Very Good to Excellent)
Correct Grade Rifles are similar to the Service Grade (above), but will show less wear and use. Correct Grade rifles will have all correct parts for the date of manufacture with 80% or better overall original metal finish. The stock and handguards will be of walnut and correct for the rifle but will have some dings, dents, scratches and marring of the wood finish. Stocks will have the appropriate original inspector's cartouche. The rifle bore will be very good with no significant defects and with a throat erosion of less than 4 and a muzzle wear of 2 or less. Very good to excellent condition. Limited quantities are occasionally available. Prices start at $950.

I light of this, IMO, the only way I would still buy a CG was to drive up to Anniston and pick one out for myself.

I have two SG rifles that are in very good condition. Since I bought them, I have made them as correct as I can. My HRA stock is nearly perfect and I would like one like it on a CG rifle also.

I have read that there have been a good number of very nice CG rifles on the racks in Anniston.

You think it was shipped on purpose without a sight, you think they didnt send a replacement?   Mistakes happen. You could have missing parts on any grade. CMP customer service is second to none and will fix any mistake

Correct Grades are rifles that have correct parts as shipped from the manufacture.
If you want a shooter go with the Service Grade, if you want more of a collector piece go with the Correct

They still let it out the door w/o the FS!

Unacceptable for $950.00 no matter how good the CS is and yes, it's second to none but I'm also not a CMP Kool-Aid drinker, only a customer and I did not bring donuts from LaMar's last time either.

I dont worship CMP either but stuff happens. Ever have something go wrong with a $20,000.00 vehicle?? Stop buying cars because they had to go in for a simple repair that didnt cost you a dime.
You ever made a mistake? We are all human , stuff happens.

Damn, when did that pop up?  I wanted a Correct Grade, but ordered a Service Grade Springfield Special about two weeks ago because the Corrects were sold out.

I noticed them 2 days ago. Our tax appointment is Monday, hoping to have enough of a refund to get a Correct and still deposit $300-$400 into my daughter's savings(she's 15 months old and has more money than I do!)

It's always a crap shoot when you order. If you order a Correct grade, you may get an unissued M1. If you order a Service Grade, you may get commercial wood. Your best bet is to get on I-80 and head east to Camp Perry.
