I'm thinking on pulling the trigger on service grade from cmp, but am curious as to the availability of surplus .30-06 ammo. Most of the ammo sites have some 7.62x51, 8mm, 7.62x54, but I rarely see .30-06. If I get one, I'm getting it to shoot, not look at, but don't want to have to scrounge for ammo. I know cmp sells it when they have it, but what other places do you guys source.
BTW, I've thought about this gun for years, but decided I had to have one after handling what seemed to be a new or never fired Springfield Armory taken in trade at my local Gander Mtn. Alas, I did not have the $995 asking price or it would've been mine. Thanks |

CMP should have ammo on sale by mid April, as soon as they get the snails fumigated. The ammo ship has arrived and is currently awaiting customs clearance. Then it's shipping and unloading (by hand) as this stuff is not on pallets. |

But yea, my garand is the biggest reason I decided to start reloading. No more loose HXP at the North Shore. Gone... Nada... You have to wait for the ammo shipment to be unpacked. It will probably go on sale mid April, if we are lucky. |
