I didn't find a post on this so I will ask if anyone has gotten one of the Garands from SOG?  I know they are import marked, but do they function or are they just junk?  I am not expecting collector grade, but do want it to work at least.  Any info would be appreciated.

CMP.  Period.

Buy from them and you won't have those questions.

I have read reports from guys that did buy trhem and not good. Most were sent back because they were in such bad condition. Yes they are Import marked.
If you dont want to go through CMP, Dupage Trading has nice non import marked garands for $650.00

I got one to check it out, the cheap $495 one.  There was free shipping so all I risk is having to pay to send it back.  I am not expecting much but maybe they will surprise me.

I got the sog garand and noticed the barrel seems to have pretty faint rifling.  I read a lot about muzzle wear but didn't have the proper tools to measure it.  I did have a surplus round of 7.62X54R and it went in the muzzle easily all the way to the brass.  I thought it might be counter-bored at first, but it looks like the faint rifling goes to the end.  Any one have any idea a bullet like that would be considered on the muzzle erosoin gage?  The rest of the gun was extremely dirty with rust and some pitting. Probably salvageable, but the barrel worries me.

if it goes in to the brass chances are the barrel is pretty worn, especially the muzzle, still it might be a decent good shooter.
